TOKYO, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Monday as the Nikkei's fresh 30-year high and Wall Street's downbeat performance late last week prompted investors to take profits.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 326.52 points, or 1.14 percent, from Friday to 28,192.66.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 13.10 points, or 0.71 percent, at 1,843.51.

Marine transportation, mining and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
