TOKYO, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks rose Tuesday morning, driven by hopes for expedited access to a COVID-19 vaccine and the yen's weakness against the U.S. dollar.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 390.84 points, or 1.48 percent, from Monday to 26,824.46.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, increased 15.15 points, or 0.86 percent, at 1,770.07.

Nonferrous metal, metal product and securities brokerage issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
