BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

HONG KONG -- With double-digit new infections on Friday, Hong Kong's COVID-19 tally topped 6,000 since the epidemic outbreak and the authorities have stepped up efforts to curb the spread.

Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection reported 92 additional confirmed cases on Friday, taking the total to 6,039.

TBILISI -- Georgia registered a record high of 4,780 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the national tally to 123,470, according to the country's National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC).

Out of the new cases, 1,863 were confirmed in the capital city of Tbilisi, said the NCDC.

MANILA -- The Department of Health (DOH) of the Philippines on Friday reported 1,631 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number in the country to 425,918.

The DOH said 370 more patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 387,616. The death toll climbed to 8,255 after 46 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH added.

MOSCOW -- Russia has registered a new single-day record of 27,543 COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 2,215,533, the country's COVID-19 response center said Friday.

Meanwhile, 496 more fatalities were registered, down from the single-day record of 524 the previous day, raising the nationwide death toll to 38,558, said the center.

TOKYO -- The Japanese government said on Friday that a new round of coronavirus antibody tests on some 15,000 people will be finished by the end of this year, as the government seeks to better grasp the scale of the pandemic's spread in the country.

Health Minister Norihisa Tamura told a press conference that the tests will take place in Tokyo, Osaka and three other prefectures including Miyagi, Aichi and Fukuoka.

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland on Thursday reported no new domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases, with five newly confirmed cases all arriving from outside, the National Health Commission said Friday.

Three new imported cases were reported in Shanghai, and one each in Fujian and Shaanxi Thursday, the commission said in its daily report.

No new suspected cases or new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported.
