WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stock market's indicator, the S&P/NZX 50 index, dropped by 0.39 percent to 12,385 on Monday.

The drop was led by Asset Plus Limited, which went down by 4.92 percent to 0.29 NZ dollar (0.19 U.S. dollar), while NZME Limited jumped by 8.62 percent to 0.63 NZ dollar. (New Zealand-Stock Market)

SEOUL -- South Korean shares ended higher Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index gained 5.21 points, or 0.22 percent, to settle at 2,346.74. Trading volume stood at 911.4 million shares worth 10.2 trillion won (8.9 billion U.S. dollars). (S. Korea-Stocks)

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday helped by a comparatively weaker yen helping lift exporters and hopes for a U.S. virus-linked stimulus package being green-lit in time for enactment before the U.S. presidential election.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market started the week with a solid improvement and hit fresh seven-month highs on Monday.

At the market close the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 52.60 points or 0.85 percent at 6,229.40, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 50.60 points or 0.79 percent at 6,435.60. (Australia-Stock Market)
