SINGAPORE -- Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 15 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 57,558.

Of the new cases, five are imported cases, one is a community case and the rest are linked with the dormitories of foreign workers. (Singapore-COVID-19)

NEW DELHI -- The upper house (locally called Rajya Sabha) of Indian parliament on Saturday passed the Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Bill, 2020 to punish those who attack health workers including doctors fighting the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic or any situation similar to the current outbreak, officials said.

The legislation provides for up to five years of imprisonment and a fine for those who attack doctors and health care personnel. (India-Health Workers)

DHAKA -- Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has announced a renewed pledge to bring down the killings in India-Bangladesh border areas to zero.

TOKYO -- The confirmed COVID-19 cases in Japan increased by 601 to 78,782 as of Saturday evening, according to the latest figures from the health ministry and local authorities.

The figure excludes the 712 cases from the Diamond Princess cruise ship that was quarantined in Yokohama near Tokyo earlier in the year. (Japan-COVID-19)

DHAKA -- Bangladesh reported 1,567 new COVID-19 cases and 32 new deaths on Saturday, making the tally at 347,372 and death toll at 4,913, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

NEW DELHI -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India Saturday morning rose to 5,308,014, India's federal health ministry said.

During the past 24 hours, 93,337 new cases and 1,247 deaths were reported from across the country.

"The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases across India is 5,308,014 and death toll is 85,619," reads the information released by the ministry. (India-COVID-19)

MANILA -- The number of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines surged to 283,460 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 3,962 new daily cases on Saturday.

The DOH said that the number of recoveries also rose to 209,885 after it reported 1,128 more patients have survived the disease. (Philippines-COVID-19)
