TOKYO, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated Tuesday morning as tech issues lost ground after their U.S. peers dropped overnight, with selling also propelled by profit taking following the Nikkei's sharp rise the previous day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 191.47 points, or 0.84 percent, from Monday to 22,593.27.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 7.53 points, or 0.48 percent, at 1,565.49.

Farm and fishery, mining and service-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
