GENEVA, July 3 (Xinhua) -- The International Skating Union (ISU) announced on Friday the cancellation of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Yokohama, Japan, which was originally scheduled on September 16 to 19, 2020.
According to the ISU, Japan Skating Federation informed the ISU that due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, it was decided to cancel the event.
The new season of figure skating had been delayed as the first two stops of the Junior GP were both cancelled, and now the Budapest stop, which will be held from Sept. 9 to 12, becomes the opening event of the season. The Yokohama stop would have been the second stop.
The ISU said a further update will be given after a council meeting to be held on July 6.
