CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Nov. 5 (PIA) -- Governor Dennis Pineda commends a rice firm in Arayat town for supporting local farmers.
Jovy Garcia, General Affairs and Administration Officer of the Quiambao Tabuan Rice (QTR) Corporation, said their various initiatives are part of their corporate social responsibility.
To aid farmers, Garcia said they go to the fields and buy directly from them.
"Aside from that, we also offer assistance to our local farmers in the form of insecticides, seeds, fertilizers, and farmall tractor services, which they could use directly in farming," he said.
Garcia added that aside from in-kind assistances, they also offer financial loans to farmers which they can pay after harvesting.
QTR Corporation also provides technical assistance to farmers through seminars to heighten their knowledge about farming industry.
It is owned by Fumio Tamura, a Japanese businessman and started operations in May 2018.
Currently, QTR caters six varieties of locally-harvested rice with different price ranges. Oishii costs PhP775 per sack of 25 kilograms; Arigatou, PhP900; Wa Manyaman, PhP925; Manyaman Ya, PhP995; Tsukasa, PhP1,075; and Minami, PhP1,125.
The corporation also sells different by-products such as grains, sorter which is marketed as dog food, rice husk and burned husk. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
